Southwest Mushrooms grew commercial culinary and functional mushrooms in Phoenix from 2017, at up to 1,500 pounds a week. Today it sells the cultures, books, and protocols from that floor, and is heading back into production through a joint venture signed this summer in Orange County.
Everything sold here ran on the floor.
Founded by Michael Crowe in Phoenix, Arizona, Southwest Mushrooms grew Lion's Mane, oyster varieties, and functional species commercially from 2017. The tinctures were made from fruit grown on that floor. The liquid cultures we sell are the strains that ran that production, kept in the lab at generation 2 to 3. The books, audiobooks, and SOPs are written from the protocols we used, not commissioned for the page.
Michael now builds tools and systems for growers at Crowe Logic. The Crowe Logic app at mycology.crowelogic.com answers cultivation questions against the same protocols documented in The Mushroom Grower. Books, software, tinctures, and cultures all share one source: that production floor.

Two HEPA flow stations, an industrial pressure sterilizer, and a culture library that runs Lion's Mane, oysters, Reishi, Maitake, Turkey Tail, Chestnut, and more. The lab is the bottleneck for everything else; it is also where the protocols are written.
Commercial blocks, every day, from 2017.
Substrate was mixed, bagged, and sterilized on site. Production blocks were inoculated from the lab's liquid cultures and tracked from spawn to harvest. The tinctures and the culture library both came out of those rooms, and so did the SOPs.

Multiple climate-controlled rooms tuned per species. Shiitake on bare blocks, Lion's Mane in cascading pin sets, oysters running cluster after cluster. Every photo on this site is from those rooms, not stock.
